The saga continues...

Ok, I have made an executive decision and I'm sticking with it.

Some bridesmaids love this look, some think it's "cowboy-ish".  I have decided (thanks to your comments) that I love it.  I've loved this look since the first time I saw it here and I don't want to look back and regret not making the decision that I really wanted.  (thanks Adrienne!)
Now-another question.
I thought it would be perfect to have them all buy their own chocolate brown dress and then wear any shade of brown or tan boots.  Bridesmaid Claire is saying that she thinks we need color.  SO, do I ask three of them to buy/wear a colored dress?  I like the green in the picture.  We weren't going to use green but I am drifting further and further away from having a set color scheme.  I don't think it's necessary and I'm about ready to say eff it-and go with whatever I like.  Our shephard staffs down the aisle are going to have wild flowers of all colors from Vince's dad's garden.  There is no reason to stick with specific colors when the point of the venue is the fall leaf backdrop.
Right?
I am aware that I am thinking out loud but I am feeling kind of frustrated.  Everyone has an opinion.  EVERYONE.  And it's getting old.  It's getting old because most opinions I'm getting are OLD fashioned.  I want a different kind of wedding.  I want it to feel different.  I don't like cookie cutter anything.
So-do I ask them to buy specific dresses?  This goes against my wedding morals of not telling my best girlfriends what to buy.  I want to let them chose what they want.
UGH I'm so confused~what do I do?!?!

I think that this is your day and it is up to you what the ladies standing up with you wear. It's not up to them to decide. Their job is to stand up with you and support you on your day and a day that is supposed to look like YOU dreamed it would!! I think if you want color then you should have color. Find dresses you like and if you still want them to help some let them pick which color they would like to wear. It's your day sweetie and they are there to support you and love you in it, not direct it!!! You can do it, go for what YOU want, do what you love!! Be gentle but firm with your best friends they will understand.

Do YOU think you need a "color"? If not stick with the brown like you said. Why throw another thing into the mix?

YAY!!! I am SO excited you decided to stick to this look - I seriously love it! I say you can totally let them pick out their own dress (thus giving them a little freedom too) but give them a color (or two) to go with. I agree, that green in the picture is amazing!! For a wedding on a farm it will be perfect! Oh I am already looking forward to seeing your pictures!

I agree with Adrienne. If you let them pick the dress they will be able to pick something that they feel comfortable in but by giving them an option between one or two colors you can still control you vision. I absolutely love the brown and green wedding that you have posted pictures of! I can't wait to see what you decide!

I'm so happy you're going with this! I think it will be so much fun, and you'll totally be in love with the look! I also felt very strongly about my girls not looking "cookie-cutter," and had them all pick out their own dresses from J. Crew - in espresso/chocolate. If you want to add color, you could do something like...have them all pick out the same dress in different colors, or just have them pick out different dresses, different colors, similar fabric/designer. J.Crew is great for stuff like that, for sure. I didn't ever have "wedding colors" - I just went with "fall" as a color and it took shape from there. And to be honest...I wasn't really sure how everything would look until I saw it all come together on the wedding day!

I didn't even take my bridesmaids to try dresses on! I just told them which dress to buy...I let them choose their shoes. I knew what I wanted them to wear, and didn't give them a choice!

Here's my opinion (although I know you're getting too many!)...this is YOUR wedding. It's the one day of your life where everything gets to be exactly the way YOU want it...they'll have their own day. And you probably won't like everything they choose, but you'll know that it's their day and you'll do it. Just go with what you want. When you look at the pictures from your wedding, be able to say that you wouldn't have changed one thing...even if your friends would change all of it. Again, they will get their day too! :) No matter what you do someone will get their feelings hurt about something you do or not like something you choose. They'll get over it though! Just do what makes you happiest!

Hope that helps!

PS--I LOVE LOVE LOVE everything you've picked!

Everyone will give you an opinion, and you won't be able to please everyone. I say do what YOU want to do. That's something I have finally come to grips with!

You can pick a certain store or designer and tell them to pick any dress in a certain color. The green in these pics really does go well. I had all of the girls pick different dresses in the same color (kelly green) from JCrew's site. They all got the dresses from the final sale section for around $100. I know that the beach embossed dress in espresso is one of my favorite dresses to wear. I've worn it to SO many weddings. It is comfortable AND inexpensive! My friend Jen ended up having it for her BM dresses after seeing me in it at another wedding.
